The Complete Web Developer Bootcamp - week by week
Week 1: FROM ZERO TO "LIVE" ON THE WEB
HTML
Master the Internet’s most fundamental formatting language, and tell any internet browser how to correctly display the text, graphics and images on your webpages.
CSS
Learn the styling language used to format online content and define how it appears. Format your site’s fonts, colors, margins, background images and much more.
Hands-on Challenge
Starting from a hand-drawn sketch similar to what a real customer might provide, you'll design, create, and deploy on the Web the first couple pages of your customer's small-business Website, Hot Shots Photography.
Week 2: BRING PAGES TO LIFE WITH ANIMATED ELEMENTS
Javascript
Create interactive web pages using this popular cross-platform, dynamic scripting language. You’ll also learn key concepts of object oriented programming.
jQuery
Make your life easier using this feature-rich JavaScript library. Save time on writing the same basic code over and over again, and build more websites, faster.
Hands-on Challenge
You'll add a dynamic "carousel effect" to your page that flips through a slideshow of Hot Shots Photography's sample portfolio. In the process, you'll learn how you, as a developer, can search for other "special effects" plug-ins in online code repositories and integrate them into your sites.
Week 3: TARGETING MOBILE DEVICES
Bootstrap
Develop responsive and mobile friendly websites in no-time using this popular HTML, CSS and JavaScript
Hands-on Challenge
Enhance the HotShots site by making it "responsive" (as developers call it): the site will "know" when it is being viewed on a mobile device, and its layout and format will automatically change to provide a better mobile experience. You'll do this using Bootstrap, the Twitter-developed de facto standard toolkit for building responsive sites.
Week 4: CONNECT TO THE CLOUD
Wordpress
Virtually all interesting sites and apps have a "cloud-based" server part that handles a portion of the work. With WordPress, the world's most popular content-management system, you can quickly add cloud-side functionality to your site beyond what's possible with HTML and JavaScript—such as sending out emails, letting customers create accounts, and even collecting payments.
PHP
The programming language that powers WordPress also lets you customize it extensively to build fully functional, complex websites.
Hands-on Challenge
You'll enhance the HotShots website so that whenever a new customer makes an inquiry, the business owner will get an email, and the customer who made the inquiry will get a confirmation email. You'll also lay the groundwork for allowing customers to setup an online account and pay for HotShots services online with a credit card.
Week 5: E-COMMERCE
MySQL
Complete your web development skills with this final building block: databases. Master the web’s most popular language for accessing and modifying database content.
Hands-on Challenge
Let customers create an account and sign in to your website, and use the WooCommerce plugin for WordPress to let customers make credit card payments.
Week 6: ONWARDS!

Wrap up your hands-on projects, discuss career tips with your mentor, and find out what else you can learn to take your coding skills to the next level.

    Mentive bootcamp assets 13
Who’s behind the Complete Web Developer Bootcamp?
Rob Percival has been creating the Internet’s most popular programming courses since 2014. Rob’s courses have helped hundreds of thousands obtain coding skills and constantly receive top ratings and rankings from the students taking them.
Mentive connects the world’s best coding professionals with small groups of passionate students to turn existing premium online content into live and engaging learning experiences. Mentive’s Chief Academic Officer, Prof. Armando Fox, is an award winning UC Berkeley computer science professor and a pioneer and thought leader in online education.
How many hours a week should I commit to the bootcamp?
This is a part-time program, meaning that it is ideal for people who may also have other jobs or commitments. You should expect to spend 8-10 hours a week watching the lecture videos, attending the live classes and working on your homework and hands-on projects. Each week, you will spend 2-3 hours on watching lecture videos, 1 hour in a live class, and 4-5 hours on coding - either on your own or with your classmates. Most of our students stay in touch with each other between classes in our virtual classroom.
What will I be leaving the course with?
At the end of the course you will receive a certificate of completion. You will also have all the knowledge needed to start building fully-functional websites on your own, and a portfolio of your projects to prove it!
    Why learn in small groups?
Learning online should not mean learning alone. Pedagogic research shows that collaboration and active participation in class discussions are a fundamental part of effective learning. By taking the course with a small group of classmates, you benefit from the experience and perspectives of your fellow students, as well as from the guidance of an expert mentor.
How is The Complete Web Development Bootcamp so affordable ?
A really great course has two components: carefully crafted learning materials and guidance from excellent teachers. The Complete Web Development Bootcamp provides both at their real and fair costs.
The best content, without the R&D costs
Instead of investing thousands of hours in redundantly building yet another web development course (and charging our students for it), we partnered with Rob Percival - the Internet’s most popular coding instructor - to teach our students using his top-rated course content.
    Pay only for learning
By learning completely online, you help us (and in turn - yourself!) save on most of the overhead that makes traditional bootcamps so expensive. We do not pay overpriced rent for expensive city center offices, or run flashy campaigns that are eventually paid for by our students. With Mentive, the only thing you pay for is your education.
    Small group classes
By teaching in small groups, we are able to share the costs of running each class among several students, while never compromising the personal attention and support each student receives. In addition, you also gain the opportunity to reap the benefits of learning amongst driven peers.
    Distributed team of Mentors
Using the reach of the Internet, we bring together a global team of passionate and industry experienced mentors. All mentors on Mentive are paid high-end market rates and have successfully passed our thorough screening to ensure they possess the knowledge, skills and passion required for delivering the best online learning experience.
    Why are we doing this?
We believe quality education is a right not a privilege, and we believe it should be available at a price affordable to everyone, everywhere. Programming education is no different.
However, the constantly growing demand for web developers has allowed traditional bootcamps to charge thousands of dollars for programming education, forcing students to take loans or spend savings in hopes of a higher salary later on. These prices are not justified.
Increased worldwide connectivity has created an opportunity, for the first time, to make an ultra- affordable, top notch programming education available to anyone with an internet connection. We are determined to make the best use of this opportunity.
